The two-year MBA program consists of six terms of 12 weeks each, equally divided over the two years, and a 10-week Summer Term at the end of the first year. The program consists of a minimum of 36 courses – of which 27 are compulsory and 9 are Electives to be chosen by the student, and 4 projects (including an Internship during Summer Term).
The total academic weightage of the program is a minimum of 120 credits. Students are required to specialize in one Concentration Area, and at least 4 Electives must be chosen from that area. Concentration Areas currently planned are Strategy & Leadership, Marketing, Finance, Operations Management, Human Resources and Information Systems.
In addition, students are permitted to undertake a maximum of 4 Free Electives beyond the stipulated 9, chosen from any area within NIIT University (subject to course prerequisites being satisfied). The intent of this elective category is to encourage students to participate academically in the unique opportunity that a Management program located in a holistic multi-disciplinary University presents:
- Students could use these electives to enhance their understanding of the other technology-based disciplines at NU, or to further their basic graduation discipline, or to take up the liberal arts, or for any other purpose. Students are permitted to overload their semester requirements by 1 Elective per term beginning from Term 2; they may exhaust their stipulated Electives before they can register for Free Electives.
